TMJ Pain Relief By Changing Diet
One of the best and most effective ways I have found to actually get relief from tmj pain is to change my diet. Chewy foods, crunchy treats, and tough snacks may be delicious, but they equal sheer pain to your jaw.
Since most TMJ sufferers are missing pieces of their actual jaw bone or cartlidge that helps keep the jaw in place, your muscles actually have to work harder than an average person just to do the normal things. When these muscles get fatigued, then the problems start to happen as the jaw pops out of place, the joints get inflamed, and the headaches start all over again.
Perhaps you love a good steak dinner, or some delicious beef jerky, crunchy chips, or even just granola in the morning. Think about what it is doing to your jaw though before you eat it. Think about how hard you will have to chew everything before you go ahead and eat it. This will help you become more concoius of what you are doing to your already overworked jaw muscles, and it will help your TMJ as a result. The old saying to chew your food 30 times before you swallow does NOT apply to TMJ sufferers.
Just making simple adjustments to how and what you eat can make huge improvements on our TMJ pain.

I agree that even for those who suffer TMJ pain, change of diet is important. Just like taking proper care of dental health, what we eat affects our overall health and even for those TMJ sufferers. It is best to consult the dentist to find more about the diet needed.
